The San Antonio Housing Authority (SAHA) has provided housing opportunities to San Antonio residents for over 70 years and is among the largest housing authorities in the nation. SAHA, created in 1937, is governed by a seven-member Board of Commissioners appointed by the Mayor of the City of San Antonio to staggered two-year terms. SAHA owns and manages approximately 6,400 public housing and 6,600 affordable-housing units and administers more than 12,000 federal Housing Choice (Section 8) rental assistance vouchers.
SAHA has 584 employees and an annual operating budget of $182 million and has a current value of more than $500 million in assets. SAHA is seeking a Housing Operations Officer who will assist the President/CEO in advancing the implementation and development of goals, objectives, policies and priorities for the agency’s assisted housing, public housing and community renewal initiatives. Responsibilities include directing and overseeing the core housing operations including Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program, Special Programs such as Homeless Housing, Public Housing, Residential and Commercial Asset Management, and Community/Resident Initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess strong administrative and leadership skills, as well as operational management ability of complex projects.
A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Political Science, Finance, Urban Planning, Economics, Public Administration or a related field is required plus at least seven years industry experience with five years at an executive level in housing, community development, real estate or related industry; a Master’s degree is preferred.
