The Houston Housing Authority has an immediate opening in its Finance Department as the Director of Finance.  Your experience and professional qualifications will be vital to your success in this job.   The ideal candidate will understand and be able to demonstrate through previous employment the ability to lead, manage, direct and supervise long and short term financial goals that resulted in an overall savings to the employer. 

This position is responsible for all functional areas of the Finance department including accounting, payroll, asset management, investment management, budget development and financial reporting.

Minimum Competencies and criteria for consideration:

1.  Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting from an accredited university or college.  Five years experience in accounting work, two years in PHA or public agency accounting.  At-least two years supervisory experience.  CPA preferred but not required.

2.  Understanding of HUD regulations; applicable federal, state, and local laws; regulations; guidelines; modern principles, practices, and techniques of accounting; budgeting; financing; financial reporting procedures and requirements pertaining to Low-rent and Section 8 housing programs.

3.  Ability to perform complex financial analysis.

4.  Good to excellent personal credit rating.

5.  Must be able to pass a drug test and criminal background check.
