HUD Publishes Notice Seeking Input on Opportunity Zones

Date Published:
April 23rd, 2019

On April 17, HUD published a notice in the Federal Register seeking input on several major issues related to Opportunity Zones. The notice from HUD’s Office of Policy Development and Research (PD&R) provides information on the intersection of Opportunity Zones and affordable housing nationally and requests feedback on nine questions concerning HUD’s role in encouraging investment in economically distressed communities. The areas of inquiry include ways that HUD can encourage Opportunity Zone investments using existing authorities, evaluating the impact of these investments on local communities, and best practices for HUD’s collaboration with other stakeholders around technical assistance and implementation.

Comments are due June 17. CPLHA will be announcing a member call shortly to solicit feedback from members on these issues. For questions or comments on the notice, please contact Senior Research & Policy Analyst Emily Warren at ewarren@clpha.org.
