Yesterday afternoon, CLPHA presented the likely impact of HUD’s non-citizen proposal on PHAs and private landlords, residents, and communities during a webinar to kick off the#KeepFamiliesTogether Day of Action. In addition to CLPHA, the webinar featured an aide to Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia (D-TX) who introduced legislation to block implementation of HUD’s proposed rule, the "Keeping Families Together Act of 2019," which passed out of the House Financial Services Committee on June 11.
Additional speakers included Diane Yentel of the National Low Income Housing Coalition and Noelle Porter of the National Housing Law Project who described the legal arguments against the proposal and urged advocates to submit public comments in opposition to the rule.
