The Tacoma Housing Authority announced that it is expanding its College Housing Assistance Program (CHAP) to the University of Washington (UW) Tacoma in partnership with Kōz Development. Kōz is finishing construction on a 104-unit apartment community across the street from UW Tacoma, and via contract with THA, Kōz will reserve 26 units for homeless UW Tacoma students, as well as an additional 26 units for low-income or housing-insecure students. THA will then subsidize the rent to levels affordable to these students, and UW Tacoma will provide financial assistance to students for security deposits and move-in expenses.
