From the District of Columbia Housing Authority's press release:

The District of Columbia Housing Authority celebrated veterans around the region and announced the awarding of 87 additional VASH, or Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing vouchers from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development at its ninth annual Veterans Appreciation Event.

The event, held virtually this year, featured guest speakers and honored DCHA’s over 1,000 VASH recipients and veteran community.

“We celebrate the brave men and women in our community and countless others, who fought so that we all can cherish the liberties, freedoms, and opportunities this country affords us. As an agency, we strive to safely house all of our customers, including our veterans and their families. But we know that isn’t where our help should stop—especially not for those who bravely protected our nation. We can do a little more,” said DCHA Executive Director Tyrone Garrett. “With these additional VASH vouchers we can bring safe, affordable housing to our veterans and their families, and make sure they receive the services they need to have successful futures.”
