Government Shutdown Averted; Government Funded Until November 17

HUD Funding to Continue at FY23 Levels

On Saturday, September 30, Congress averted a federal government shutdown by passing a Continuing Resolution that funded the government on a short-term basis until November 17. HUD will continue to operate under FY 2023 appropriation levels.

During this 45-day period, PHAs should remain vigilant by continuing to take steps to minimize any impact on their operations and the residents they serve if a government shutdown were to occur on or after November 17. The political situation on Capitol Hill remains fluid as Congress has not passed the 12 FY 2024 appropriations bills, including the Transportation and Housing and Urban Development Departments' 2024 appropriations bill.

CLPHA will update our members with additional news regarding the 2024 appropriations process and the potential for a government shutdown on or after November 17.
