HUD Secretary Marcia Fudge visits Seattle Housing Authority's Yesler Community

SHA Executive Director Rod Brandon welcomed U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Secretary Marcia L, Fudge and Federal Communications Commissioner (FCC) Geoffrey Starks, Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell and others to SHA's Yesler community on August 28 for a roundtable discussion on digital equity. Secretary Fudge announced a new partnership with the FCC to promote awareness of the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) among federal housing assistance recipients. The ACP allows low-income households to receive free or reduced-cost access to internet services.

Additional participants in the roundtable included SHA tenants Qween'B and Jodi, SHA Digital Equity Coordinator Asfaha Lemlem, HUD Office of Housing Director Janice King Dunbar, HUD Regional Administrator Margaret Salazar and Seattle Chinatown International District Preservation and Development Authority Co-Executive Directors Jamie Lee and Jared Johnson.
