From WTO9 News Steubenville:
The Pittsburgh Housing Authority provided pointers to Steubenville City Council on Tuesday regarding the High Choice Neighborhood Planning Grant that council received in January. This is the first phase of grants the city can receive.
The housing authority has plenty of experience, as it’s received the planning grant in the past. Most recently, it is the recipient for the Choice Implementation Grant, which was for $50 million.
Members gave advice on what they did, which council members hope will help them get closer to the implication grant they are trying to get.
Pittsburgh Housing Authority Chief Community Affairs Officer Michelle Sandidge said, above all, communication is key.
"Just meet people where they are,” Sandidge said. “Talk to your residents. Talk to your community. Talk to your politicians. Talk to your business leaders. Get everybody together and get all on the same page in order to make sure that the next phase of the choice happens.”
