From the Sacramento Housing & Redevelopment Agency's newsletter:

Sacramento County and City officials joined SHRA, EAH Housing and other stakeholders to celebrate the groundbreaking of On Broadway, a new affordable housing project coming to the Broadway Corridor.

The ceremonial event included remarks from California Department of Housing and Community Development Director Gustavo Velasquez, City of Sacramento Mayor Darrel Steinberg, City of Sacramento Councilmember Katie Valenzuela, County Supervisor Phil Serna and SHRA Executive Director La Shelle Dozier.

“To inject this ray of hope for people who deserve the dignity of being housed and to help revitalize this wonderful historic corridor, what can be better than that?,” said Steinberg.

Once completed, On Broadway will provide 140 affordable apartments across two buildings. To help address the greatest need in Sacramento, thirty-seven units integrated into the On Broadway Apartments community will be reserved as Permanent Supportive Housing and available to households experiencing or at risk of homelessness.

“The 37 project-based vouchers are essential in terms of the financing to bring the project together, but also getting to the deep levels of affordability so we can ensure that people living on the street can have a great and safe place to live,” Said Dozier.

The project is located near SacRT’s Broadway Blue Line light-rail station; the property has been identified in the Central City Specific Plan as a catalytic opportunity site critical to advancing the economic revitalization of the Broadway Corridor.

On Broadway is expected to be completed in 2025.
