About Marcia
Marcia E. Lewis was appointed on January 8, 2023, by Mayor Joseph Hogsett as the Chief Executive Officer of he Indianapolis Housing Agency (IHA). This appointment followed a one-year appointment as its Interim Executive Director. In these roles, Mrs. Lewis was tasked to employ some of her nearly 30 years of experience in affordable housing from the federal, state and local level including a previous stint from 1993 to 2000, at IHA in several roles including the Deputy Director and Acting Executive Director. Marcia received numerous accolades and tributes across the country for her work in this field.
Over her years of service, Marcia served on a number of industry panels, boards and committees. In 2019, Marcia was appointed by then HUD Secretary Ben Carson to be a member of the Housing Counseling Federal Advisory Committee and in 2021 was again appointed to this federal advisory committee by current HUD Secretary Marcia Fudge. Marcia served as Vice-President of Public Housing on the Board of the Tennessee Association of Housing Redevelopment Agencies (TAHRA); served as board member of the United Housing in Memphis; and, as a VP on the board of the Southeat Affordable Housing Management Association (SAHMA). She also formerly served on the Federal Home Loan Bank of Cincinnati's Advisory Council.
Marcia was a proud wife, mother of 7 and grandmother of 17. Marcia's business philosophy was one of servant leadership and she believes in placing people first and always striving to leave whatever you touch better than you found it.
