Riverstone Apartments in Federal Way is the latest addition to the King County Housing Authority’s (KCHA) workforce housing portfolio.

The attractive 308-unit complex sits across the street from the Star Lake Park and Ride, which in 2024 will be converted to the South 272nd Street Link Light Rail station. It is conveniently located close to grocery shopping, parks, and the Woodmont Library.

The acquisition expands KCHA’s efforts to preserve or develop affordable housing in regional growth corridors with mass transit. 

The California Advanced Services Fund (CASF) Broadband Public Housing Account awarded the Housing Authority of the County of San Bernardino (HACSB) a $484,830 grant for the Broadband Adoption Digital Learning Centers project. HACSB and partner Great Harvest Community Center, Inc.

The San Diego Housing Commission held its 13^thannual Project Homeless Connect event, a resource fair for San Diegans experiencing homelessness that provides donated items such as shoes and snacks and offers services like eye exams, flu shots, haircuts, dental screenings, health care, and pet care, among numerous others.

The Healthy Corner Store Initiative (HCSI), a new pilot program developed by San Antonio-area partners, will offer food vouchers redeemable for healthy food at corner stores in San Antonio’s District 3. HCSI will make these vouchers available to San Antonio Housing Authority residents through events and site visits.

In an article in GOVERNING, "The Unintended Consequences of Smoke-Free Public Housing," Robert Wood Johnson Foundation program officers Emmy Ganos and Matthew Pierce cite the Housing Authority of Cook County's (HACC) 2015 smoke-free policy rollout as an example of a successful implementation strategy that did not lead to smoking violation-based evictions.
